Skerries Rowing Club was established in 2012 with a handful of interested adult rowers and has grown in both numbers and popularity year on year.  The juvenile section of the club was tentatively introduced in 2017 with one crew each of Under 18 Girls and Under 18 Boys.  In 2018, we brought on board  Under 16 Girls and Under 12s mixed crews. With great success in entering these crews in both East Coast Rowing Council regattas, and the All Ireland Rowing Championships in the case of the Under 18 Girls crew, we are slowly establishing a vibrant, fun and competitive juvenile section of the club.

To this end, Skerries Rowing club adheres strictly to all Safeguarding guidelines and policies relating to youth membership as advised by Rowing Ireland.  You can view this safeguarding policy here: https://www.rowingireland.ie/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/RI-Safeguardingpolicy-CVA-141020.pdf

Everyone involved in coaching, training, transport and supervision of our youth members have up to date Garda clearance and many of the juvenile coaches have completed both Safeguarding in Sport and Children’s First training.

Our juvenile youth membership form includes a code of conduct which must be signed by parents/guardians. This carefully outlines the standards expected by junior members in relation to safety and behaviour in a team sport such as this.

As an evolving section of the rowing club, we welcome the juvenile members having a say in how to progress and develop within the club and hope that every experience out on the water will be fun, memorable and rewarding.
